Ludhiana (Sanjay Minka, Ayush Mittal) As the number of Covid cases are showing an upward trend in recent days in rural areas ,in view of this Punjab government has taken an initiative to focus on containing this disease in villages.Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has instructed to ramp up testing and vaccination in the rural areas of the state.So that spread of this disease can be controlled as it is starting to spread its tentacles in the rural areas and most of our population lives in these areas.With the instructions of the Civil Surgeon Dr. Kiran Ahluwalia the Mass Media Team of the Health Department visited the Lalton Kalan, Lalton Khurd and Thakkarwal villages and created awareness amongst the villagers by going door to door and by using Public address system. Villagers were told about the importance of early detection and vaccination in controlling the spread of Corona. Anyone who has onset of symptoms such as fever,sore throat , diahorrea, headache etc. must get himself tested for covid as soon as possible so that there can be timely detection of the disease and such a person be isolated and further spread of the disease can be stopped.Moreover villagers were made aware regarding vaccination and myths associated with vaccination were also busted.Their queries and questions regarding vaccination were answered .They were motivated to take both doses of vaccination. Team members also met the Sarpanches and Panchayat members of these villages and they were requested to achieve the goal of ‘Corona Free Village’.They should not let a person enter in their village without covid negative report and Theekri Pehras should be started for strict compliance of the curfew rules and posters related to covid appropriate behaviour should be pasted at prominent places in the villages.Announcements relating to following of all Covid guidelines should be made from the village Gurdwaras and Temples at egular intervals.Sarpanch Gurjagdeep Singh Grewal, Sukhwant Kaur and Amarjit Singh assured the Health Team that they will work towards driving away corona from their respective villages and will make their village completely Corona Free.
