Ludhiana, (Sanjay Minka)-Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today interacted with the residents through a Facebook live session on the official page of District Public Relations Office, Ludhiana. During the session, he informed that for the welfare of residents, people can check the status of vacant beds on official web link “https://ludhiana.nic.in/…/covid-19-bed-status-in-ludhiana-…/“. He said that the list of other private hospitals offering Covid treatment would also be added on the web link. He assured that a dedicated mobile app would also be launched shortly. He further stated that soon, people would be able to apply for home isolation through a mobile app that is to be launched in next couple of days. For this, one would have to make a video of a separate room in the house, after which government officials would visit your premises as per the time slot fixed by you and if all facilities are available, they would grant permission for home isolation. He said that people would not have to visit the hospital for applying for home isolation. He said that once the verification is complete, patients would have to visit the hospital just for checkup by doctors to ensure that the patient is not serious. He said that several private hospitals have also promised the district administration to start treatment of Covid in their premises. He urged the residents to act responsibly and follow all government directions, wear masks at all time, maintain physical distancing and hand hygiene. He said that under the Mission Fateh of the Punjab government, 10 lakh masks would be distributed to the needy in Punjab, out of which 80000 masks would be distributed in district Ludhiana alone.
He urged the residents not to panic and assist district administration in fighting Covid pandemic and break the chain. He clarified that the District Administration is not planning on imposing lockdown and expect the people to act responsibly in the larger of interest of society.
He further stated that a referral counter has been set up outside DMCH, where a team of both government and private doctors would assist the patients in case there is non availability of beds at DMCH.
He also urged the residents to organise mask “langar” in district so that people can be benefitted. He said that next 8 weeks are very crucial for everyone and people should stay safe by following all government directions. Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Sharma today informed that 326 new positive cases (306 new patients from district Ludhiana and 20 from other states/districts) have tested positive in last 24 hours time. He said that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of COVID 19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 1445 active patients in the district at present. He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid 19. He further said that till date, a total of 67594 samples have been taken, out of which report of 65363 samples has been received, of 60762 samples is negative and report of 2131 samples is pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 4176, while 525 patients are related to other districts/states. He said that unfortunately 9 patients from district Ludhiana lost their lives today. Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives include 129 people from Ludhiana and 41 from other districts have lost their lives. He informed that till date, 23525 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 4564. Today, 399 persons were sent for home quarantine. He said that whenever District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out that about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 949 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly. Mr Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab government and if they would stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves, but would also contribute in keeping everyone around safe.
